Interceptors

Interceptors are often placed on drain lines to protect the downstream environment from possible pollutants. Most commonly interceptors are used for separating out silts and hydrocarbons (oils and fuels).

By-pass interceptors are used in low risk areas such as roads and car parks to treat surface water run-off and prevent pollution of the running water. Full retention separators are used for higher risk sites such as working yards.

Forecourt separators are designed for petrol forecourts and to retain a spill from a compartment of a fuel tanker.

By-pass, full retention and forecourt separators can be discharged to suitable surface waters with appropriate permits.
