Sewer / Mains Connections

Sewer connections are required for sites which traditionally had private drainage and where the local sewer undertaker has installed a new Public Sewer.

The connection will either be to a lateral provided when the sewer was installed or direct to the sewer pipe itself or a manhole. Either way there is likely to be a connection fee and an infrastructure fee payable to the sewer company.

Environmental Drain Services Ltd have all the appropriate Health & Safety training and documentation to carry out sewer connections including appropriate Street Works Licence to work in a public highway.

On some occasions the Water Authority will insist on carrying out the final connection themselves but would require the drainage works and excavation to be prepared for them.

Sewers are normally installed to allow for a gravity connection. However, when this is not practical a pump station can be installed. When pumping to a distant sewer special consideration needs to be made about septicity in the rising main.
